US: Fossil fuel-free Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has introduced a Climate Wake-Up Call for guests.

In place of the typical wake-up call provided by a hotel’s concierge team, guests of Hotel Marcel can now choose to wake up to facts from leading voices in climate change, including David Pogue, CBS Sunday Morning correspondent and author of How to Prepare for Climate Change, and John Morales, ClimaData founder and chief atmospheric and environmental scientist.

Hotel Marcel is also launching a dedicated website with tips to support a sustainable lifestyle. Additional on-site touch points include signage and a lobby phone to encourage guests to schedule their own Climate Wake-Up Calls.

“Other hotels have hit the snooze button when it comes to our changing climate,” said Bruce Becker, owner and developer of Hotel Marcel. “As the leading fossil fuel-free hotel in the United States, we are committed to being part of the solution. Our ‘Climate Wake-Up Call’ delivers important messages to guests with the help of respected climate change activists who share our hope for a global awakening to the realities of our warming planet.”

Opened in May 2022, the boutique hotel features 165 guest rooms and suites, 9,000 square-feet of meeting and event space, as well as an on-site restaurant and bar which utilises an all-electric kitchen and sources all food from within 250 miles of the property.

Hotel amenities include a fitness centre, lobby lounge, and an electric shuttle service (within five miles of the hotel).

The hotel is located in Connecticut, in New Haven’s historic Long Wharf district. It was developed by Becker + Becker with interiors designed by Dutch East Design, and is operated by Charlestowne Hotels.
