US: The Iceland-based brand will reopen KEX Portland on June 9 2021 having downsized in room count.

The hotel, designed by Hálfdan (Dáni) Pedersen, will reopen with 26 rooms available, including private suites and new amenities. When the property first opened in November 2019, KEX Portland offered 14 private rooms and 15 shared rooms.

Room sizes range from deluxe king, king, queen, family and group. Queen rooms may or may not come with en suite bathrooms, while group rooms have a common bathroom.

Updated amenities within private rooms include mini fridges and workspace areas. All guests will have access to a dining room and a lounge, as well as contactless check-in.

KEX Portland features the restaurant, Dóttir, and a rooftop bar, Lady of the Mountain. Dóttir is under the guidance of executive chef Michael Zeman. Zeman was previously a chef at Farm Spirit and OK Omens, both located in Portland. At KEX Portland, he will offer dishes influenced by Iceland’s food and beverage scene. Lady of the Mountain will serve snacks prepared by Zeman. Both the restaurant and the bar will be open seven days a week.
