US: The Graduate Roosevelt Island hotel, part of a new Cornell University technology complex, is expected to open in 2019.
The Graduate Hotels brand, launched in 2014 by AJ Capital Partners, has properties in locations where there is a strong identification with a university. The Roosevelt Island site – the only hotel on the island – will be located at the gateway to the Cornell Tech complex, the first phase of which is scheduled to open in September 2017.
The Graduate Roosevelt Island hotel will be a 196 room new-build project with views of the Manhattan skyline. The hotel will include a restaurant, rooftop bar and meeting and event space.
The Graduate brand has hotels in six locations including Ann Arbor, Michigan; Oxford, Mississippi; and Madison, Wisconsin, with a seventh opening soon in Berkeley, California.
The main Cornell University campus is in Ithaca, New York, about 230 miles from New York City.
