Ruby Hotels’ first UK property to open in 2020

UK: The 76-room Ruby Lucy is to open in London’s Southbank in January next year.

Munich-based hotel brand, Ruby Hotels, was founded in 2013 by CEO Michael Struck. The brand’s UK launch with Ruby Lucy forms part of an expansion plan to see eleven new hotels unveiled by 2022.

Located on Southbank’s Lower Marsh, Ruby Lucy is set within the area’s entertainment and theatre scene. As a result, the hotel will adopt a carnival-inspired interior and be decorated with props including circus drums and juggling pins.

Room sizes range from ‘nest’ (14-to-15-square-metres) to ‘loft’ (21-to-23-square-metres), with each room including full soundproofing, blackout curtains, high-quality linen, and extra long and wide custom mattresses.

A personal tablet, preloaded with Ruby Hotels’ own curated London city guide and social media apps, can be found in each guest room. A self-check in system will make use of the tablets to reduce check-in time.

Other amenities include a 24-hour bar, a communal work station, and a library.

“Thanks to proprietary technical innovations, we plan, build, and organise ourselves differently from conventional hotels. To be precise, we plan and build in a very modular way and centralise as well as automatise processes behind the scenes wherever possible. This helps us create a luxurious and unique hotel experience at an affordable price,” explained Struck.

Ruby Hotels already operates seven properties in Europe. A second London hotel, Ruby Stella in Clerkenwell, is slated to open early 2021.
