UK: The Wood Norton, a newly restored Grade II listed property in Worcestershire is set to open this autumn following a £4 million restoration.

Before its latest incarnation as a boutique hotel, Wood Norton has had an interesting and varied past. It was owned by the BBC for corporate purposes and served as a listening post in the Cold War before being bought by a private investor in 2012.

The hotel consists of three main buildings, The Hall, Pear Tree Mews and Smith’s House. The Hall, the oldest part of the property, dates back to 1897 and features 20 bedrooms, a dining room, bar, snooker room and various lounge and meeting rooms. Many of the bedrooms in The Hall feature roll top bath suites, wood panelled walls and views over the landscaped gardens and Worcestershire countryside.

Pear Tree Mews, formerly the stables and coach house, features 30 new ly created rooms set around a cobbled courtyard, while Smith’s House, once the estate’s blacksmiths, forms The Wood Norton’s business area with meeting and syndicate rooms.

Gardens and lawn areas have been designed by English Heritage Gardens specialist Peter Baldock, and will feature small beds with paths, hedging and topiary, inspired by classical ideals of order and beauty. The Restaurant at The Wood Norton will focus on serving British cuisine and locally sourced produce

General manager of the property is Oliver Cooke, who previously worked at the Bath Spa hotel.
