Abbey Hotel Bath appoints GM

Sérgio Moreira

UK: Sérgio Moreira has been named general manager of Abbey Hotel Bath, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel.

Prior to joining Abbey Hotel Bath, Moreira served as deputy general manager at the five-star Chewton Glen hotel in the New Forest. He brings over 20 years of experience to the role having worked across Europe and Canada for luxury hotel brands.

Moreira began his career in 2000 as a chef de rang at the late Gary Rhodes’ one Michelin star restaurant, Rhodes 24.

Speaking about his appointment, Moreira said: “I am very excited to be making the move to live and work in the beautiful historic city of Bath. I’m looking forward to working with the hotel team to take Abbey Hotel Bath forward into an exciting new era.

“Bath has changed a lot in the last five years, so I am really looking forward to exploring the city and finding out all that it has to offer, as well as being a part of a wider team that is totally committed to growing and developing a sustainable post-Covid operation.”

Group operations director, Andrew Francis Axiom Hospitality, asset managers of the hotel on behalf of owners Castleforge, said: “Sergio’s appointment is a key milestone in the new era of the hotel. His energy, enthusiasm, experience, and passion for hospitality is a great asset to have on board. I’ve no doubt that Sérgio will do a great job and develop a fantastic local team and product for locals and visitors to enjoy.”

Castleforge acquired Abbey Hotel Bath, along with the rights to two adjoining buildings, earlier this year. There are plans to add 15 bedrooms to the hotel in early 2023.
