US: New GM Jermaine Anderson will oversee The Godfrey Hotel’s opening in Chicago’s River North neighborhood during Summer 2013.

In his new role, Anderson will oversee day-to-day operations, marketing and sales, and will manage a team of around 100 employees for the 221-room independent hotel.

Anderson has extensive hotel management experience and most recently served as the general manager at the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago. He joined that opening team in 2006 as director of operations and was promoted to general manager in 2010. While there, he oversaw a $1.1 million build out and opening of the hotel’s rooftop bar, Drum Bar. Prior to his career with the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago, Anderson worked with several Hyatt properties.

George Jordan, area general manager for the Hotel Cass, Hotel Felix and The Godfrey Hotel Chicago and senior vice president of operations for Oxford Hotels & Resorts, said: “Jermaine brings an innate ability to orchestrate a service-focused team, and to manage the many demands of the discerning leisure and business travelers we will welcome. We are fortunate to have him leading our team as we prepare for a successful opening next summer.”

The Godfrey is owned by Oxford 127 Huron Hotel Venture Property Company, an Oxford Capital Group LLC-led venture with Cube Capital.
