Italy: Marco Novella has been appointed as managing director of Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice, effective Monday 28 June.
Novella brings 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality to the role. He previously worked with Belmond at Villa San Michelle in Florence for four years as general manager.
Most recently, Novella served as managing director of The Lanesborough, London.
Commenting on his appointment, Novella said: “Coming back to Venice after all these years feels like going home. The love and respect I feel for this unique city is extremely motivational. Coming back as the new managing director of Cipriani – especially during the year of Venice’s 1600th anniversary – fills me with pride. I am sure that Cipriani will be the protagonist of a great rebirth of the city, in the visionary spirit of the Belmond Group.”

Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, is located on Giudecca Island. Belmonod acquired the property in 1976 and since has expanded its portfolio to include 46 properties across 24 countries.
Belmond recently appointed Karl Bieberach as SVP of global development for the group.
