Switzerland: The Baur au Lac, located on Lake Zurich, has welcomed its seventh-generation family owner alongside the arrival of a general manager.

The Baur au Lac has been under the ownership of the Baur-Kracht family for 178 years.

This summer, Marguita Kracht joins her father, Andrea Kracht, in the management and strategic direction of the hotel. She has gained experience working with LVMH followed by stints at Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, the Lanesborough in London, Aman Resorts, and the project team of The Peninsula London.

Since the hotel was founded in 1844, only four general managers have led the property. This July, Christian von Rechenberg will join as the hotel’s fifth. He will succeed Wilhelm Luxem who has spent nine years at the property having overseen some extensive renovations.

Von Rechenberg has previously worked in hotels across London, New York and Hong Kong, before joining Baur au Lac’s food and beverage team. He became the hotel’s deputy director in 2018 prior to his promotion to general manager.

In their new roles, Kracht and von Rechenberg will focus on driving digitalisation and sustainability at the hotel.

Baur au Lac is located in its own landscaped park and offers 119 rooms and suites, a two Michelin starred restaurant called Pavillon, and a brasserie and bar designed by Martin Brudnizki.
