Chestnut Group appoints new COO

UK: East Anglian hotel and hospitality company Chestnut Group has announced the appointment of Henry Fairbanks as a new chief operating officer.

Fairbanks brings over 20 years of experience in leisure and hospitality.

Philip Turner, founder of Chestnut, said: “We are pleased to have appointed Henry to the Chestnut leadership team. He brings a wealth of experience and will be integral in achieving our ambition for Chestnut.

“Henry will be responsible for overseeing the trading business, as we see continued opportunity for strong growth.”

After a diverse career across companies like Heineken UK, RealPubs, The Metropolitan Pub Co. and Lord’s Cricket Ground, Fairbanks was appointed Managing director at Bermondsey Pub Company in 2016. There, he was responsible for 68 individual pubs as well as maintaining the pipeline of new openings and acquisitions.

Fairbanks said of his promotion: “I am delighted to be joining one of East Anglia’s fastest-growing hospitality businesses. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an ambitious team and some outstanding venues which pride themselves on a great experience and celebrating this beautiful region.”

Chestnut Group’s portfolio includes 11 hotels across the East Anglian region, including The Packhorse Inn in Moulton near Newmarket, The Rupert Brooke in Grantchester on the outskirts of Cambridge, and The Northgate in Bury St Edmunds. The Westleton Crown, one of its Suffolk properties recently underwent a full renovation during lockdown, adding a variety of duplex rooms and refreshing the aesthetic.
