UK: Ahead of the new opening from Meliá Hotels International, a cluster general manager, cluster director of sales, cluster revenue manager and sales manager has been appointed at the Newcastle hotel.

Following the government’s announcement of Tier Three restrictions in Newcastle, INNSiDE Newcastle has postponed its mid-December opening until 2021.

Gary Fortune has been appointed as the property’s cluster general manager. He said: “In light of the recent tier structures, we have made the decision to postpone the launch of the hotel for just a couple of weeks, meaning that we will now open a new hotel in the new year, with a new team and of course in a new city. We are very much looking forward to opening in Newcastle, on Monday 4 January!”

To support Meliá’s plans of launching another INNSiDE hotel in Liverpool in spring 2021 and further hotels across the north of the UK in 2022, Shireen Rowley has been appointed as sales manager of INNSiDE Newcastle. She will focus on these new launches as well as being responsible for the hotel’s business development and sales activity from pre-opening to launch.

Cluster director of sales, Scott Brown, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for INNSiDE by Meliá, as we look to expand our properties in the UK. It’s great to have the addition of Shireen Rowley in Newcastle, supporting the brand’s cluster team to bring the INNSiDE experience and stay philosophy to the North East.”

Tom Meara has also joined the Newcastle team as cluster revenue manager.

The 161-room INNSiDE Newcastle hotel is located in Quayside and features a restaurant and terrace, a gym, and five multi-functional meeting spaces.
