Belmond El Encanto appoints general manager

US: Janis Clapoff has been appointed as general manager of Belmond El Encanto located in the Santa Barbara Hills, and will oversee its 92 cottages and suites.

Clapoff brings over 30 years of luxury. Hotel experience to her role, having held leadership positions at the Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara, San Ysidro Ranch, Simpson House Inn, and the Ojai Valley Inn. 

In addition to management of large-scale resorts, Clapoff has overseen several reconstructions and renovations, rebranding projects, and programming development. Under her direction, Lake Austin Spa Resort earned its title as Condé Nast Traveller’s 2019 #1 Destination Spa Resort in North America and #2 in the world.

Belmond El Encanto is set in seven acres of historic gardens with views over Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. It offers a zero-edge pool, high-end fitness facilities, a spa, and coastal California cuisine.
