Maldives: Amila Jeewantha Handunwala has been appointed general manager of Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, located at the southernmost reach of the Maldives.
Handunwala brings over 25 years of experience in the luxury hotel sector to the role, most recently serving as executive assistant manager for St. Regis Maldives Vommuli. He’s previously worked for other brands including Conrad and Waldorf Astoria.
Speaking about his appointment, Handunwala said: “I am truly honoured to join the iconic Raffles family, which is renowned for its illustrious history and distinguished addresses in leading destinations around the world. I look forward to bringing a new perspective to the venerated oasis of Raffles Maldives Meradhoo and continuing the legacy of this award-winning resort. Raffles Maldives Meradhoo first opened in 2019 and recently unveiled its Raffles Royal Residence – a six-bedroom villa spanning over 1,700 square metres.
Other services at the resort include a Marine Butler for snorkelling tours. A new Whale Shark experience is also available.
Raffles Hotels & Resorts is part of Accor. The brand is set to debut in Dubai at the end of this year.
