Saudi Arabia: Four new hires at Shangri-La, Jeddah, include Afnan Memesh, Aisha Azmi, Ghaida Taleb and Wedyan Astik.

Memesh will take the role of assistant marketing manager, Azmi as executive assistant, Taleb as HR officer and Astik as assistant HR manager.

The hotel’s general manager, Alexander Blair, announced the appointments on his LinkedIn page. He wrote: “Aligned with vision 2030, Shangri-La Jeddah is committed to providing exception opportunities for women in the workforce. Meet some of our leading ladies who have already joined the pre-opening team… and many more scheduled to start in the weeks ahead.”

“If you are a Saudi female looking for a career in hospitality, then we may have many exciting opportunities available,” Blair added.

Azmi said: “I have been watching the development of Shangri-La Jeddah for the last three years, and dreamed that one day I would have an opportunity to work there. I can’t wait to welcome the rest of our team and open Jeddah’s number one luxury hotel.”

The opening of Shangri-La Jeddah marks the brand’s first property in the Kingdom. It is located within the Burj Assila Tower overlooking the Red Sea.

Featuring 163 guest rooms, 55 suites and 18 residences for long-stay guests, the hotel will also be home to seven dining venues. Cuisines range from Chinese, Arabic and Japanese, along with an international buffet concept and patisserie.

Other facilities include a health club with Technogym equipment, as well as a spa with sauna, jacuzzi, hammam and swimming pool.

The property is slated to open October 2021.
