UK: Robert Richardson, general manager at The Cave Hotel & Resort Resort, has been appointed as the vice chairman of the Institute of Hospitality, an organisation that supports managers and aspiring managers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.
Richardson joined Cave Hotels in Boughton, Kent in July following over a decade spent at The Grand in Folkestone. Here, he took the Grade-II listed property from a seaside hotel to an award-winning destination.
In late 2019, The Grand was recognised at the Springboard International Awards as the UK’s Best Hopitality Employer. Richardson also won the Southern Enterprise award for the Boutique Hospitality Manager 2019 and 2020.
Writing on Twitter about his appointment at the Institute of Hospitality, Richardson said: “I have been part of the hospitality industry for all my professional life, and I am proud to be able to step up as the new vice chairman of the Institute of Hospitality from today. I’m looking forward to supporting our Industry as we move through these critical times and towards a better future.”
The Institute of Hospitality was established in 1938, and is managed as an educational charity. Its resources include publications as well as management guides and research covering both the hospitality industry and other management disciplines.
