Rosewood Amsterdam appoints managing director

Thomas Harlander

The Netherlands: Thomas Harlander has been named managing director and director of project services for Rosewood Amsterdam.

Harlander joins the pre-opening team at Rosewood Amsterdam from Rosewood Bangkok, which debuted in 2019. In his new dual role, Harlander will work with the design and project services team during the construction of the hotel as well as help position and operate the hotel once open.

Prior to his time at Rosewood Bangkok, Harlander worked at properties in London, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and Seoul under the Park Hyatt brand.

Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, said: “As a well-respected leader of the Rosewood Bangkok team, we are delighted to support Thomas’s transition into this dual role at Rosewood Amsterdam as we expand into an exciting new region for the brand. Thomas’s extensive experience in the luxury hospitality sector is a true asset for the opening and management of this highly anticipated property.”

Rosewood Amsterdam is scheduled to open in late 2023 and will be the brand’s debut property in the Netherlands. It will be housed in the former Palace of Justice overlooking the Prinsengracht (the Prince’s Canal).

When complete, the hotel will offer 134 guest rooms and suites, three restaurants and bars, a lobby lounge, a wellbeing facility with a fitness centre and indoor swimming pool, as well as several meeting and event spaces including a ballroom.
